Rocket Launch at Georgetown School Thursday 11/9

At Georgetown School we are finally able to launch.  Now that we have had some rain, Georgetown Makers are eager to launch their rockets.  Come out to our field this Thursday to enjoy the event.  Count down begins at 12:30.

Georgetown School will begin our Girls “Full STEAM Ahead” afterschool program running for four weeks beginning November 14.  This offering is designed to give girls additional experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.

MakerSpace West! Is up and running!

Northside’s After School Makerspace is up and running.  Last week, 4th – 6th grade students began their S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) experience experimenting with flight.  Our squadron launcher simultaneously launched nine student planes from the gym stage!  Students also began exploring some of the Makerspace’s other centers:  Snap Circuits (manipulating basic circuitry), Strawbees (creative and geometric construction) and the Glove-a-phone (a bagpipe-like musical instrument)The Home Depot just donated several kits for students to begin using at the Woodworking Station.  We meet after school Tuesdays and Thursdays through December 7.  Feel free to come on by and check out what students are making!  A big thanks to NS’s Parent Teacher Association for supporting this program with a generous start-up fund.
